Job overview
Urology outpatients is a small dynamic team that provides care for patients with varied urological concerns including diagnostics, andrology, endo urology, functional urology, and cancer services. We are a tertiary referral center for urology in the South West.
Deliver clinical and therapeutic care to patients as required within set protocols/policies and within the scope of the Assistant Practitioner or Nursing Associate remit.
You will have the opportunity to assist with research, assist with new procedures, and become a competent practitioner that manages your own clinics. We aim to provide high-quality patient-centered care for all our patients.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual who can work flexibly to cover all clinics and carry out direct patient care without supervision, in accordance with established procedures and policies.
Main duties of the job

* Participate in the delivery of high standards of evidence-based nursing care.
* Contribute towards health promotion for all patients by providing education, support, and advice as necessary.

* Ensure the provision of a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, relatives, visitors, and colleagues.
* Support patients to manage continence and teach pelvic floor exercises and catheter care.
* Prepare and support patients prior to, during, and following healthcare activities.
* Support and assist urology clinics.
* Carry out direct patient care without direct supervision.
* Obtain specimens and undertake point of care testing and act on results.
* Undertake dressings, venepuncture, and cannulation.
* Answer phone calls and provide advice regarding health needs or appointments.
* Book appointments and print clinic lists and appointment letters.
Person specification
Education and training
* Higher Apprenticeship in Health Level 5 or equivalent.
* Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or equivalent.
* Evidence of full-time education achievements.
* Ability and willingness to undertake appropriate training.
* Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development.
* Experience of working in a health or social care setting at Band 4 level.
* Ability to work as a member of a team and provide direction to lower band staff.
* Experience of time management skills and prioritizing work.
* Experience of teaching/training individuals.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
* Good communication skills both written and verbal.
* Committed to providing high-quality patient care.
* Enthusiasm and commitment to working within a healthcare setting.
* Able to meet the physical and educational demands of the role.
