Our client, a well-respected charity, is looking for a dedicated and highly organised Domestic Abuse Housing Specialist to work within dispersed accommodation provided by Gosport Borough Council (GBC) and provide intensive support to the victim/survivor and their child(ren) living within the property.
Synopsis of Duties:
* To provide intensive support to the victim of domestic abuse to maintain their current accommodation and develop skills to enable them to maintain future accommodation.
* To provide immediate and ongoing safety planning for the family.
* To provide 1:1 support for each member of the family and facilitate family work through a family support plan, enabling the family to thrive as individuals and as a unit.
* The work will focus on enabling the family to live their lives free from domestic abuse and develop the confidence to continue their journey independently when moving on from the property.
* To provide high-quality crisis intervention, information, advocacy, and proactive support to victims of domestic abuse and their children, both as individuals and as a family. This will be done by:
* Identify and assess risk and needs of domestic abuse victims using an evidenced-based risk assessment.
* Work with victims to develop and implement risk management plans including safety planning and identification and referral to any other appropriate services.
* Support and promote referral pathways into specialist domestic abuse services.
* Support victims to understand their housing options and access or maintain suitable, safe accommodation.
* Advise victims of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies and proactively advocate to ensure barriers to accessing support and protection are reduced.
Requirements:
* Safeguarding Adults Level 2 and/or Safeguarding Children Level 2 or demonstrable equivalent experience with the ability and commitment to achieve qualification within 6 months of appointment.
* Experience of working with vulnerable groups.
* Understanding of the principles of risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management for those affected by domestic abuse (victims, perpetrators, children).
* Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service would be advantageous.
