Estimator- Glazing Background
CRS have partnered up with a specialist subcontractor in the architectural glazing and fenestration market, delivering high-quality glazing solutions across a wide range of commercial and residential projects. They work with leading contractors and architects to deliver bespoke window, door, and curtain walling systems in both aluminium and steel. Project packages typically range in value from small-scale works up to £1 million, with a company turnover forecast to exceed £3 million in 2025. Role Overview:
They are seeking an Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive quotations for our sub-contract glazing packages. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the commercial success of the business by ensuring timely and well-structured tender submissions across a range of project sizes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator or an ambitious junior candidate looking to build a long-term career in the fenestration industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare detailed quotations for a wide range of sub-contract glazing packages. This includes aluminium and steel windows, doors, and curtain walling systems and rooflights. Internal and external glazed balustrades. Internal partitions, wall cladding, mirrors, and structural glass.
• Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documents to assess project requirements and scope.
• Compile pricing from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, labour, and associated works.
• Liaise with clients, main contractors, and internal teams to clarify requirements and ensure accurate proposals.
• Evaluate project installation timescales and include appropriate durations and resources in quotations.
• Maintain clear and accurate records of estimates, pricing, and supporting documents using internal systems.
• Work with the sales and project delivery teams to ensure smooth transition from tender to contract stage.
• Contribute to value engineering exercises to provide competitive and cost-effective solutions.
• Attend project sites and meetings when required, mainly within the Greater London area.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential
• Experience in estimating for subcontract glazing or related construction sectors.
• Technical knowledge of a wide range of glazing systems including aluminium and steel windows, doors, and curtain walling systems and rooflights. Internal and external glazed balustrades. Internal partitions, wall cladding, mirrors, and structural glass.
• Strong understanding of the end-to-end estimating process, from enquiry to submission.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT literacy.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable
• Awareness of installation timescales and sequencing within glazing packages.
• Experience using internal quoting or CRM/estimating systems (training provided).
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites on occasion.
