Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an interesting varied dual role to work with our pharmacy and dispensing team supporting to co-ordinate their workload working alongside the current pharmacy co-ordinator.
The second part of this role will be based at our Wotter Branch dispensary, you will be responsible for dispensing medication to patients registered at this surgery. The dispensing part of the role will initially be a training role you undertake your dispensing qualification. The role requires lone working.
This role would suit someone who likes variation in their role, can work alone autonomously, and work as part of a team environment.
The Role is primarily 16 hours per week on a Monday to Thursday across 3 days. Monday: 8am-3pm at Wotter, Tuesday & Thursday - 8.30-1.45 at a Plympton site Wednesday & Friday day off. As this role is part of a Job share there will be an ask for additional hours for 5 weeks of the year.
The successful applicant will either hold a relevant dispensing qualification to NVQ2 or be willing to train to achieve this, we are happy to support training, the candidate must be willing to complete the dispensing assistant buttercup qualification.
The candidate must also be driven and able to work on their own. The role is to support our pharmacy team with rota and work management, good IT and organisation skills are important, and experience in conducting clinical audits/reports is advantageous.
Main duties of the job
The role is varied and will keep any candidate interested. The candidate will need a good understanding of stock control and record keeping, to ensure sensible ordering with a twice a year stock take. The role works alongside the wider practice to ensure personal administered items are stocked to a suitable level.
The role is to project a positive and friendly image to dispensary patients and other visitors and deal with queries in a professional, courteous, and efficient way.
1. Prepare and dispense prescriptions and miscellaneous over-the-counter medicines/appliances.
2. Manage stock control, ordering and re-stocking of the dispensary.
3. Conduct regular audits related to medicines.
4. Support the review of SOP and work inline with SOPs.
5. Provide effective advice to patients relating to medications, lifestyle, and ailments within the scope of your capability.
6. Provide effective administrative booking across our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, utilising appointments appropriately and ensuring appointment wait times maintained.
7. Use skill and knowledge to allocate appointment based on need and urgency.
8. Liaise with the pharmacist lead on review of appointment availability and planning.
9. Support patients to access the right care, with the right person.
10. Be responsible for your own continuing self-development, undertaking training as appropriate.
