Emergency Medicine Clinical Fellow - Teaching

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a modern and fast-paced Emergency Department while building experience and exposure in teaching. Sunderland Royal Hospital ED benefits from 24/7 Middle Grade Cover and Consultant cover 16 hours a day, 7 days a week.
This post is designed for you to gain experience in looking after patients as part of a diverse team in the ED whilst gaining experience of the provision of teaching in the clinical and classroom setting.
Main duties of the job
The Trust has Emergency Departments at both Sunderland Royal Hospital and South Tyneside Hospital with the department at Sunderland benefiting from 24/7 middle grade presence and 16 hours of ED consultant supervision, 7 days per week. There is a well-established programme for induction as well as Emergency Clinical Practitioner, Junior Doctor and Middle Grade teaching programmes. Each department has access to Point of Care Ultrasound machines as well as high fidelity simulation and training equipment. Clinical working time will be a combination of day, late and night shifts as well as weekend working. Applicants will need to have an interest in pursuing a career in an acute care specialty, have completed a minimum of 4 months experience in Emergency Medicine and hold a valid I/ALS. While prior interest in pre-hospital emergency medicine is desirable it is not mandatory. Salary will be dependent on skills and experience.

The remit of the post will be for one position which will be a full-time fixed term post for 12 months. This is a Trust Doctor level appointment for trainees seeking opportunities to enhance their careers and for trainees seeking to gain experience in Emergency Medicine.
Person Specification
Clinical Skills
* Competence in Foundation Programme core skills (or equivalents).
* In-date ALS certificate (or equivalent).
Teaching/Research/Audit
* Evidence of involvement in teaching (undergraduate, postgraduate or with the multidisciplinary team).
* Evidence of developing own teaching sessions/programmes.
* Evidence of evaluation of own teaching sessions to identify improvements for future.
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent.
* Full GMC registration to the end of the post.
Experience
* Experience of clinical risk management.
* ILS.
* Experience of Emergency Medicine.
* Demonstrate breadth of experience and awareness in and outside specialty/medicine.
Skills & Knowledge
* Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Familiarity with IT.
* Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
