Job summary We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced Pharmacy Technician to work as a Medicines Optimisation Technician as part of the Medicines Optimisation Team in Devon ICB. Applicants should be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC and be able to demonstrate excellent organisational, influencing and time managements skills. You will work as an integral member of a dedicated team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians responsible for implementing high quality, cost effective prescribing initiatives. Pharmacy Technicians in Devon ICB are highly valued by local GPs and have an excellent track record of delivery against national and local targets. The ICB has, for many years recognised the value of having both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians supporting GP practices and believe their roles enhance and complement each other so there is an expectation that this post holder will work closely with Primary Care Networks (PCNs). The successful candidate will be able to prioritise workload, show a degree of flexibility, build key relationships and be confident interacting with a wide range of healthcare professionals and patients. Main duties of the job Work on an agreed programme in GP practices within Devon working closely with GPs, other practice staff and members of the primary healthcare team in supporting the development and application of high quality, safe, cost effective, rational, and evidence-based prescribing. Support Senior Medicines Optimisation technicians as required. Work and support on agreed projects and initiatives across Devon as required. Support practices to implement the medicines optimisation agenda. Promote awareness of medicines management and optimisation issues. Work collaboratively to organise and attend practice meetings, providing support to practices and raising awareness of the medicines optimisation agenda. Undertake agreed pieces of work in GP practices, including completing audits, medication changes and communicating directly with patients as required. Identify and develop potential projects to improve the quality and cost effectiveness of prescribing, this includes developing and undertaking audits of the current prescribing and analysing the results. Monitor performance of practices in relation to the agreed medicines optimisation agenda. Analyse, interpret and monitor information e.g., practice prescribing and cost data and make appropriate recommendations in collaboration with a pharmacist, including in relation to areas of prescribing where the practice is an outlier.
