Balfour Beatty are looking for an experienced professional in substation construction and management, looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity? We are seeking a Site Manager to join our Power Transmission and Distribution team to oversee and manage substation projects from inception to completion, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
* The location for this project is in Norwich.
* You will be based on our project in Norwich, but we are open to applicants from all over the UK with a generous subsistence and site allowance on offer.
What you'll be doing
* Lead and manage all on-site activities for substation construction, refurbishment, or maintenance projects.
* Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
* Collaborate with project stakeholders, including clients, engineers, and contractors.
* Oversee scheduling, resource allocation, and material management.
* Manage project budgets, timelines, and ensure milestones are met.
* Conduct site inspections and implement solutions to any operational challenges.
* Provide leadership and guidance to the on-site team, ensuring a high standard of work.
* Plan, manage and deliver site activities and to support Project team to deliver the construction works,
* Safely and sustainably deliver the construction works to programme, cost, and quality.
* Ensure the sufficiency of people & systems to deliver the construction activity.
* Support and develop an environment where the construction team can thrive and succeed.
* Ensure effective management of client and stakeholders.
* Review, monitor and improve construction performance.
Extensive site management experience Substation projects of up to 400kV.
* Civils experience preferable
* Risk Assessment trained or equivalent.
* A qualification in IOSH, CDM or equivalent is desirable.
* City and Guilds NVQ or equivalent
* SR163(TP137) is desirable.
* Strong knowledge of substation systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
* Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
* Ability to interpret project plans, specifications, and technical drawings.
* Strong understanding of HSE regulations and best practices in the power industry.
* Relevant certifications in site management, health, and safety (SMSTS, NEBOSH, or equivalent).
* Flexibility to work on multiple projects and travel to various sites as required.
