We have an opportunity for an Admiral Nurse position at our nursing home. The Admiral Nurse will lead, deliver and coordinate relationship-centred dementia care within operational areas of Nazareth House Manchester, to improve the experience of carers/families affected by dementia with complex needs. In line with the Admiral Nurse Competency framework at an enhanced specialist level, the post holder will provide: Specialist bio-psychosocial assessment and support for residents/people with dementia and families with complex needs Facilitation of education and training for staff in the delivery of evidence-based dementia care across the care home setting Clinical leadership with policy development and quality improvements in relation to dementia care across the care home setting Consultancy to other health and social care professionals regarding dementia The post holder will need to have the ability to work in a care home setting. The role will include seeing carers and families individually, running groups and providing education/ training, as well as balancing a proxy-clinical caseload - all whilst setting-up, developing, maintaining and evaluating a new service. All posts offered are subject to two satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS disclosure. About You For the Admiral Nurse post we are looking for an exceptionally skilled Registered Nurse (adult/mental health/learning disability) with a passion for, and significant demonstrable track record of, providing person-centred and relationship-centred dementia care with a strong sense of advocacy and equalities for this client group. Combining direct work with families with supporting the best practice of health and social care professionals, you will call upon your impressive knowledge of bio-psychosocial interventions to improve the experience and quality of life of families affected by dementia. We are looking for someone who has significant post registration clinical experience of supporting people with dementia and their carers/families. You will need to have the ability to demonstrate the 6 Admiral Nurse competencies (person-centred care, therapeutic skills, triadic relationship centred working, sharing knowledge, delivering best practice and critical reflective practice). You will have skills to enable clinical leadership which includes strong communication skills, good facilitation/presentation skills, ability to influence change, ability to act as a decision maker and advocate, expert clinical practice and the ability to use the appropriate information technology, including MS office software to enable efficient service delivery. This post is a full-time position however reduced hours can be considered.
