About the Position
Reporting directly to the CEO, the National Sales Manager will hold the overall responsibility for managing sales of the Company's product portfolio in the UK and achieving sales targets in line with the UK Sales and Marketing strategy.
With 9 direct reports based across all areas of the UK, the National Sales Manager is responsible for leading, motivating and developing the Elemental Territory Managers in support of their achievement of the overall strategic business plan.
In addition, the National Sales Manager will be responsible nurturing and developing close working relationships with key suppliers to continue market share growth across product portfolios.
The role will be home based, with a requirement for travel 2-3 days per week to spend time managing and supporting territory managers, as well as attending customer and supplier meetings.
Responsibilities
* Take a leading role in developing, defining, and communicating the sales vision, strategy and objectives, encouraging collaboration and teamwork to contribute to the achievement of overall business targets
* Ensure the wellbeing of direct report and their performance against their objectives, by providing regular in field support, guidance, and coaching to ensure that they are planning properly, executing efficiently, and working to agreed priorities, taking actions as appropriate to manage underperformance.
* Drive key strategic customer relationships with NHSSC, private hospital groups, industry, and clinical bodies.
* Take responsibility for developing designated supplier relationships and meeting contractual obligations
* Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and profit forecasts by supplier and product type, contributing to accurate demand planning forecasts to Surgical Innovations manufacturing teams and supply chain.
* Develop sales management tools to ensure sales force effectiveness across the portfolio
* Provide competitive intelligence across the market and territory, identifying new growth areas, trends and impact and communicate to leadership, marketing, and R&D teams
* Ensure UK regulatory obligations are carried out in the appropriate timescales
* Support local tender processes to ensure maximum success across the SI product portfolio
* Take a leading role in the wider SI business, fostering effective internal relationships to achieve process efficiencies.
Requirements
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following qualifications, experience, and competencies:
* Degree level education or equivalent in business or life sciences
* Extensive professional sales leadership experience (5+ years) with demonstrable experience of the ability to drive successful sales strategies
* Proven ability to lead a sales team through collaboration, teamwork, and well-developed planning, managing individual and team performance and expectations
* Strong clinical understanding of medical devices (surgical), the sales process, and hospital decision making processes.
* To be a decision maker and problem solver, effective with change management and with an adaptable leadership style
* Ability to manage commercial business relationships and key account manage
* Strong numeracy, negotiation, analytical skills, and business acumen
* Experience of managing principals within a distributor business (desirable)
* Full UK driving license and ability to travel c.50% of working time
