Job Overview
* To provide supervisory duties to the Courier services in accordance with the agreed policies and procedures.
* Day to day supervision of Courier staff at Royal Derby Hospital.
* Daily allocation of workloads and to ensure all work requests are documented on departmental systems.
* Annually appraise and review staff, including identifying training needs.
* Check work rotas and schedules are being adhered to and that allocated jobs have been completed.
* To ensure discipline and standards are maintained at all times.
* Manage rotas via the E-rostering system and organise staff cover at the most economical rate for short notice absence.
* To participate, in conjunction with the manager, in recruitment and selection of new staff.
* To carry out on the job training of new staff as required ensuring they reach the required standards.
* To act as Health and Safety Officer for the department.
* To implement and control major incident procedures for the department until department manager takes over.
* Supervisors are expected to be working supervisors as and when required and will therefore comply with activities laid down in the Courier job description in addition to the responsibilities listed here.
* To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade as requested by the Facilities Manager – Logistics.
Main Duties of the Job
To oversee the day-to-day supervisory of the Couriers in accordance with the policies and procedures of UHDB.
Ensuring that the daily work schedules of all departments are conducted in line with Trust Policies and Procedures to deliver a professional and efficient service.
Responsible for the daily shift operation; ensuring this is cost effective and that processes are robust to support the provision of efficient and high-quality facilities services.
Minimum Requirements
* Maths and English GCSE grade D/3 or above
* Full driving licence
* IT literate
* Physically fit due to nature of the job
* Understanding of NHS policies and procedures
* Knowledge of NHS Procedures
