The Role
As a Transport Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing transport operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and driving efficiency across our fleet.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
* Managing drivers to ensure adherence to EU Drivers Hours Regulations and UK Working Time Directive
* Overseeing vehicle maintenance, efficiency, and compliance with the Operators Licence requirements
* Controlling transport costs and reporting on financial performance
* Managing staffing, including rostering, absence cover, training, and performance management
* Working closely with operational supervisors to ensure seamless transport logistics
* Identifying and implementing cost-saving and efficiency measures
* Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation, Environmental Permits, and FCC policies
What Are We Looking For?
We need a highly organised, and proactive leader who can drive operational excellence. To succeed in this role, you'll need:
* Experience in transport management within waste management, or similar bulk haulage industry on a comparable scale (nominally bulk artics, hook loaders and drivers)
* Knowledge of Operators Licence regulations, fleet compliance, and vehicle maintenance and ideally holding a CPC
* Strong leadership and experience in managing a remote workforce and proven ability to motivate, support and drive team performance to ensure that critical operational and commercial KPIs are achieved
* Excellent problem-solving abilities, commercial awareness and demonstrable drive to improve performance
* Commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance
* Comfortable working on own initiative but within a team environment and within company procedures and sector best practices
