As our new Digital Content Controller, your role will be to oversee the preparation, conversion, loading, QA, and publication of digital content for assigned online products and journals, ensuring it is of appropriate quality, on schedule, and to budget. You will assist with the planning and execution of new digital content production approaches and publication events, and ensure availability of content materials to support the development of new digital outputs, including sites on the online platforms. You will also be responsible for scheduling and reporting on digital content production and managing supplier performance.
Other duties will include:
* Manage the performance of third-party suppliers to deliver digital content to agreed budgets, standards, and timescales; resolve queries and provide training and support as needed; evaluate monthly supplier quality reporting and foster ongoing improvements in performance.
* Collaborate with other teams, stakeholders, and suppliers to troubleshoot and resolve content errors and queries that are varied in nature, relying on analysis and experience to inform solutions. Manage expectations of diverse stakeholder groups through challenging issues, including situations where consensus on next steps may not be immediate, or where clarification on technical matters may be required.
* Perform or assess root cause analysis and proactively address recurring issues with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate solutions are implemented.
* Manage new journal launches and transitions of journals to and from other publishers, including content conversions, data rework, and taxonomies.
* Manage content feeds to third parties and data provision for licensing partners.
* Ensure the quality of digital content, by helping to define standards, maintain QA tools and procedures, and manage supplier production processes, documentation, and feedback. Work with the Content Engineers to update TCI and QA rules for assigned products including dissemination to appropriate stakeholders.
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

* Experience directing and supporting third party typesetting and digitization suppliers
* Experience using content management systems/tools
* Experience of working in a digital publishing environment
* Knowledge of digital content data models and DTDs
* Experience of working with HTML, XML, and XSLT or other data transformations
* Experience using tools for QA and validation of data, e.g., parsing tools for XML
* Experience of managing successful digital projects
* Experience of working with bug tracking systems
Please note this is a 6 month fixed term contract with the possibility of an extension, covering maternity leave.
