Job Summary
The main purpose of this role is to deliver training relating to the Positive and Safe strategy to a high standard and in accordance with Trust policy and standards.
The post holder will additionally provide support to the senior trainers and positive and safe team manager to enable them to provide specialist advice related to the agreed aspects of the positive and safe curriculum across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Training
1. Deliver and lead agreed aspects of positive and safe training courses to a consistent, safe and fair standard in accordance with Trust policy, requirements and standards.
2. Assess learners to determine their competency to a consistent, safe and fair standard in accordance with Trust policy, requirements and standards.
3. Provide bespoke training in the subject of Positive & Safe to trust colleagues, including (not exhaustive) ward staff, preceptorship nurses, doctors, TNA's and OT & Nursing Students.
4. Provide individual support and training for students who may have difficulties completing the course.
5. Assist in the design, development and evaluation of PMVA curriculum, conflict resolution and other relevant training and techniques.
6. Provide a safe, healthy and welcoming training environment.
7. Identify the need for Occupational Health referral for students that attend training with health concerns.
8. Complete any associated documentation related to incidents or near miss events.
Advice & Support
1. Advise and support on a ward level as and when required, under the supervision of the senior positive & safe trainers and/or team manager.
2. Assist the ward staff to plan, under the direction of the senior trainers or positive and safe team manager and where needed, deliver a safe, legal and ethical response to the management of patients that have complex needs.
3. Escalate any safeguarding issues that may arise whilst carrying out daily duties.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
1. Extensive experience of work within healthcare, social care or education.
2. Previously attended and successfully completed PMVA training, or equivalent.
3. Knowledge of current national standards in the field of prevention and management of violence and aggression, including restraint reduction.
4. Knowledge of current legal frameworks which influence the care and support of individuals and population supported within GMMH.
Desirable
1. Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating physical and theoretical training programmes.
Skills and Abilities Essential
1. Relevant computer literacy skills with the ability to use appropriate office software e.g. Microsoft computer software.
2. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver effective solutions.
3. Good communication skills.
