Workshop Technician to work at our West London studio assembling artworks.
You will be working as part of a tight-knit team on several projects and artworks, assembling, building, testing, and quality-checking finely engineered products.
The role is based in the studio's workshops and consists of making and assembling artworks, following CAD drawings and designs. Qualities required include an understanding of basic fabrication in metal, wood, and acrylic, as well as a strong understanding of the importance of high standards of finish. The team regularly undertakes painting and finishing assignments for Artworks.
You will be required to undertake regular moving and lifting duties and begin training on installing artworks at collectors' properties and galleries in the UK and abroad. A willingness to assist the team in installing and transporting artworks and a readiness to travel are essential.
You will have a proactive attitude and a keenness for learning and problem-solving.
Role and Responsibilities:
1. Building/assembling products to the required specifications and standards.
2. Inspecting and testing components and finished artworks.
3. Using power tools and machines safely and precisely.
4. Monitoring and refreshing stock levels cooperatively.
5. Moving and lifting artwork and materials under supervision.
6. Small-scale electronic work, soldering, wiring, and constructing cables.
7. Installation of artworks at private homes as well as public galleries.
Your Skills:
1. Practical experience in fabrication, making, or prototyping.
2. Detail-oriented and solution-focused.
3. Clean and able to maintain a safe working environment.
4. Actively engaged in learning opportunities to build skills and take on progressive responsibilities within the workshop.
5. A team player who thrives on learning from and assisting other members of the team.
6. Familiar and comfortable with workplace manual handling and workshop operations.
7. A strong interest in mechanical assembly, design, and fabrication.
8. A demonstrable interest in art and design.
9. A strong interest in or experience of basic electronic assembly.
10. An ability to read and understand CAD drawings.
11. Some familiarity with the use of 3D printers, CNC machines, or laser cutters. Training will be provided.
12. Full driving licence and passport.
