Ward Registered Nurse - Private Hospital – Hertfordshire Area – Competitive Band 5 Salary – Full Time
The Private Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Ward Registered Nurse to join their friendly and dynamic Ward team.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Ward Manager, the successful Ward Registered Nurse will deliver the highest standard of individualized patient care as part of the clinical team, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients throughout their visit or admission to the hospital. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with hospital policies, national guidelines, and best practice standards.
Main Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Provide pre- and post-operative care by assessing patient needs, planning, implementing, and evaluating care programs.
2. Identify patient care requirements by establishing rapport and providing emotional and psychological support to patients and their family/carers.
3. Offer healthcare advice, educating patients/family/carers on conditions, medications, self-care, and health maintenance, answering any questions they may have.
4. Carry out clinical nursing procedures, including administering medications, injections, intravenous infusions, and catheterization for both male and female patients.
5. Record and maintain accurate patient medical records and histories within the relevant care pathways, clinical forms, and IT systems.
6. Develop customized care plans through collaborative work with other departments.
7. Ensure effective and safe discharge planning to various locations.
8. Participate in audit processes to monitor nursing quality.
9. Support in establishing and monitoring care pathways, assessing health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, and recommending adjustments as needed.
10. Report incidents and complaints via the Sentinel reporting module, escalating appropriately if unable to resolve independently.
11. Conduct accurate monitoring and recording of Early Warning Scores, escalating as per policy.
12. Maintain comprehensive handover of patients between shifts, departments, and multidisciplinary teams, including external agencies.
Qualifications:
* Registered Nurse with NMC.
Experience:
* Clinical nursing experience in elective surgical care.
* Proven ability to work independently and within a team.
Skills:
* Demonstrable knowledge, skills, and competencies in required clinical practices. Phlebotomy, cannulation, ECGs, and intravenous antibiotics are advantageous.
* Strong written, numerical, and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency with MS Office Suite and web-based reporting systems.
* Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business.
* Excellent customer service skills.
Desirables:
* Enthusiasm for cross-functional work within clinical departments.
* Experience in the private healthcare sector.
* Relevant additional clinical skills.
