These infrastructure networks include hundreds of thousands of miles of pavements, thousands of bridges, and millions of wastewater, storm water, and fresh water distribution pipe assets.
Position Overview
* Manage the month-end close process making sure the Accounting staff are following the required procedures in place for month-end.
* Produce and distribute monthly financial statements and other internal and external financial reports, in line with the timelines for completion.
* Report and analyze company financial and operating data; provide financial information to enable senior management to make informed long-term and short-term decisions.
* Prepare monthly journal entries, schedules/documentation, reconcile general ledger, accruals, payroll, A/R, A/P, prepaids, amortization.
* Maintain general ledger accounts and explain monthly variances from budget.
* Monitor and reconcile tax installments, remittances and refunds.
* Manage annual client returns and state registrations for new clients.
* Support the Accounting Manager in preparing budgets, create forecasts, review analytics, review actual against budgeted expenses, etc.
* Monitor and manage the flow of sales transaction data.
* Provide coverage for payroll and billing.
* Assist with year-end process and any external audits; Liaise with external accountants and auditors.
* Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
* Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
Job Expectation:
* Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA designated or pursuing CPA designation.
* Minimum of 6 years of Accounting experience.
* Advanced MS Excel skills are a must.
* Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Business Central) is an asset.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to translate results into meaningful information.
* Highly organized and process-driven with exceptional follow-through capabilities.
* Thorough attention to detail with on-time delivery.
