Job Purpose:
To ensure that manufacturing processes, including tools, documentation, and associated facilities, are designed to produce safe and repeatable quality products at a given output rate. The manufacturing process must integrate ergonomic and health & safety aspects without detrimental impact on the environment.
Specific Duties:
* Design, procure, set-up, and optimise manufacturing processes (from tool to method).
* Create relevant documentation such as work instructions, machine parameters, start-up sheets, packaging instructions, etc.
* Check and update Bill of Material in line with current production and any process/engineering changes.
* Check and update routing in line with current production and any process/engineering changes.
* Define testing processes, facilities, and associated documents to ensure production compliance.
* Optimise product robustness by making or buying decisions.
* Assess new purchased products regarding reliability, dimensional accuracy, and capability.
* Train or support the training process.
* Participate in problem-solving and ensure quality is integrated into the manufacturing process.
Principal Area of Responsibility:
* Provide leadership to the manufacturing and quality teams regarding manufacturing processes.
* Ensure that all manufacturing processes are compliant with legal specifications.
* Integrate quality, safety, ergonomics, and people into processes.
* Continuously seek new cost-effective solutions to support business growth and financial viability.
* Aim to achieve best-in-class standards in remanufacturing products worldwide.
* Act as a point of contact for other remanufacturing sites within the group.

Analytical, reflective, pragmatic, and cautious. This role requires a strong quality ethos in all processes, products, and working disciplines. A logical mind and hands-on approach are essential for success in this position, along with the ability to deal with a large amount of uncertainty.
Work Experience:
Product designer/manufacturing engineer in a heavy-duty mechanical and electrical environment, preferably within the automotive sector (supplier base or OEM) or heavy-duty machinery (e.g., steering products, diggers, electrical engines).
Education:
HNC/HND or equivalent engineering degree in mechanical, fluid, and electrical disciplines (all combined).
Other Skills:
* AutoCAD LT 2D knowledge (version 2012 and onwards).
* Advanced Excel spreadsheet knowledge.
* Proficient in Word and PowerPoint.
* Good knowledge of SMED tools (understanding of the principles).
* Understanding of the one-piece flow concept.
Note: The use of AutoCAD LT is for the following daily tasks:
* Mechanical component drawings.
* Small hand tools drawings.
* Workstation drawings and associated facilities (e.g., WIP packaging).
* Layout designs.
