We are looking for an outstanding Cook who is passionate about food and wants to make a difference.
You'll be working 30 hours a week, making a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care at Hope House. Working days and hours to be discussed at interview. Contract includes working alternate weekends.
Hope House is a residential service providing outcome focused care for adults with a learning disability and associated complex needs who may have behaviours that challenge.
The service is split into 2 neighbouring properties Hope House (no. 59) and Hope Lodge (No. 57). This newly refurbished service consists of a number of bespoke self-contained apartments, studio flats and en-suite bedrooms providing personalised support. Externally we have a lovely spacious garden where individuals are supported to grow their own plants and vegetables.
Your day-to-day...
1. Prepare, cook & serve nutritional, balanced and appetising meals
2. Provide special diets, taking into account individual preferences & needs
3. Liaise with nursing colleagues to meet patients' nutritional & dietary needs
4. Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas & dining room
5. Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and Food Hygiene Regulations
6. Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
7. Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations

You are...
1. A skilled Chef/Cook who can work under pressure
2. Have knowledge or understanding in Dysphagia and SFBB
3. Preferably experienced in the care sector
4. Able to plan nourishing & attractive menus within available budgets
5. The holder of a food hygiene certificate, with good personal hygiene standards
6. Polite & professional, with a positive attitude to internal & external guests at all times
7. An excellent communicator able to liaise with people at all levels
8. Able to work under your own initiative, as part of a team & under supervision
9. Qualified in catering to City & Guilds 706: 1 & 2 level or NVQ Level 2/3
Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
