We have an exciting opportunity for an Early Days in Custody Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Bullingdon, a category B prison located in Bicester, Oxford.

HMP Bullingdon is a male remand prison that has a capacity for 1,152 and offers 24 hours healthcare with an inpatient unit on-site.
Hours
This will include working day shifts, night shifts, weekend work, bank holidays, and evening shifts across all areas of the prison.
Salary
This position is full time, and you'll receive an annual salary up to £52,507 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main Duties of the Job
As an Early Days in Custody Practitioner, your responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring patients have medical plans of care, assessing patients, and carrying out relevant clinical investigations during their arrival, along with arranging follow-up appointments while offering advice and information.
* Clinically evaluating and ensuring the safe transfer of patients to acute hospitals if needed, as well as ensuring that plans of care are understood by the patient and the prison.
* Supporting in undertaking audits and governance.
* Providing healthcare to patients on-site in the healthcare unit in the prison, including some emergency care such as suturing, providing emergency response, undertaking dressings, and performing a primary care function.

Qualifications Required
* Registered nurse (Adult) or Paramedic
* Current professional qualification (NMC or HCPC)
* Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
* Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP, and national standards
* Understanding of audit and Datix
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment.
