Our mission is to transform lives through learning, advocating for inclusivity and diversity at every stage.\n\nAbout the role\n\nAs a Payroll Supervisor you will be responsible for ensuring that there are efficient payroll systems and processes and you will direct and coach staff in the payroll team, ensuring a high standard of customer service. You will ensure that the team works closely with colleagues across the wider People team that payroll is part of and support the provision of the People Service wherever possible. \n\nYou will be responsible for ensuring that the College meets all its statutory responsibilities in relation to payroll and pensions and will be the Colleges main contact on payroll matters for external organisations.
You will also take responsibility for managing and promoting employee benefits across college including managing suppliers.\n\nMain Responsibilities:\n\nTo ensure appropriate calculations are made and changes implemented in relation to any terms and conditions affecting pay. This includes (but is not limited to): \nStarters \nLeavers \nVariations to contract \nSick pay \nMaternity pay \nPaternity pay \nParental leave \nDeductions \nPay increases \nOvertime, invigilator and term time pay \nHoliday pay \nTo efficiently maintain all payroll records, in an up to date, accurate manner at all times to allow for fast retrieval and ease of use of such information. \nTo ensure payroll processes are completed in a timely manner and in line with agreed College procedure including the audit/checking and sign off/authorisation process.
\nTo regularly assess and review process and procedures to ensure they are the most efficient and effective processes.\nTo ensure appropriate evidence is supplied to auditors as and when required. \nTo ensure that there is an up-to-date payroll Standard Operating Procedure, readily accessible to members of payroll and the People team, which enables members of the People team to support payroll activities as required. \nTo complete the annual pension returns for all pension providers, including: the Teachers' Pension and Local Government pension schemes and the Teacher's annual service return in an accurate and timely manner.
\nTo be the main point of contact with external partners on payroll matters, including, but not limited to HMRC, pensions providers, student loans company, benefits providers, payroll software providers. \nTo process third party payments in a timely manner and in line with business requirements.\nTo produce and analyse staffing costs reports and other adhoc reports as required, developing and automating reports wherever possible.\nTo lead on implementing payroll elements of the dashboards used for Business Planning/Performance review as well as to inform other decision making across college.\nTo continuously improve the functionality of iTrent from a customer perspective in regards to payroll and pensions information (where applicable).\nTo work closely with the People Analyst to develop functionality of payroll/HR software and to share that knowledge across the team in both BAU and project formats.\nTo be responsible for managing and promoting employee benefits across college, including liaising with and managing suppliers.\nWhat we can offer you\n\nAs the successful candidate, you will be offered a salary of between £34,801 - £40,192 per annum based upon a combination of the skills, knowledge and experience that you can bring to the role \n\nOur benefits \n\nEnhanced Pension contributions scheme with SYPA - 17.1%\nAnnual leave - 30 Days(222 hours) + 8 Bank Holidays (59.2 hours)- this includes a discretionary Christmas closure period\nHealth and wellbeing, we offer\n\nEmployee assistance programme through BUPA\nOccupational Health through PAM\nFree eye tests for VDU users\n\nFree Parking is available at majority of our campuses\nFurther information can be found on our Benefits and Career Development pages.\n\nDisability Confident\n\nWe are a Disability Confident employer and are committed to removing barriers for applicants with a disability during our recruitment process, upon appointment and as an employee.
