The Role:
I’m seeking a highly experienced and motivated Director of Structural Engineering to lead a thriving structural engineering team for a busy multidisciplinary consultancy. Based in Cardiff, this role will involve steering the strategic direction of the team, managing projects across multiple sectors, and ensuring the delivery of innovative, high-quality engineering solutions. Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the delivery of complex, multidisciplinary projects across sectors such as Commercial, Residential, Health, Education, and Infrastructure.
Serve as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring strong relationships and exceptional service delivery.
Mentor and support team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Review and approve technical designs, reports, and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Lead business development initiatives, including bidding for new projects and identifying growth opportunities.
Manage budgets, resource allocation, and project schedules to ensure profitability and efficiency.
Stay abreast of advancements in structural engineering and incorporate new technologies and techniques into the team’s practice. Requirements:
A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and Chartered status (CEng) with a relevant professional body (e.g. ICE, IStructE).
Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with a proven track record of leading teams and delivering complex projects.
Strong technical expertise in structural analysis, design, and modern construction methodologies.
Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and deliver outstanding service.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Experience in business development and an understanding of commercial project management.
