SEN Teaching Assistant - Make a Difference Today!
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Salary: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour (Actual salary: £19,370.70 - £21,122.66, depending on experience) ...
Hours: 37 hours per week - Term Time Only
Are you driven to help young people with special educational needs succeed? We're looking for committed SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team, supporting students aged 11-19 with a range of complex needs, such as autism, learning disabilities, and communication difficulties. Key Responsibilities:
Learning Support:
Work collaboratively with teachers to create a positive and engaging classroom environment.
Individualised Care:
Provide one-on-one or small group support, addressing the specific sensory and communication needs of each student.
Build Trust:
Form supportive relationships with students, helping them feel secure and included.
Promote Positive Behaviour:
Use creative strategies to encourage positive behaviour, tailoring your approach to meet each student's unique needs.
Assist with Personal Care:
Provide personal care when needed, ensuring students' dignity and respect are always maintained.
What We're Looking For:
1. Experience working with SEN students (paid or voluntary).
2. A Level 2 or higher qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (preferred but not essential).
3. GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
4. A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
5. A flexible, creative approach to meeting diverse learning needs.
