About this Role Join Diagnexia as a Senior Biomedical Scientist and be a leader in Clinical Research Pathology. You'll oversee laboratory sections, mentor staff, and lead Immunohistochemistry operations, making a real impact on patient care. Responsibilities Key Tasks: Day to day lab work including sample collection and handling, method delivery and validation, adherence to safety protocols etc. Lead sections of the pathology lab, ensuring efficient operations and mentoring junior staff. Develop and maintain |Lab standard operating procedures and competency training aligned with regulatory standards. Conduct and evaluate staff training while promoting continuous professional development. Oversee technical validation and documentation of methods and equipment. Contribute to quality management, ensuring compliance with UKAS/ISO standards. Manage equipment calibration, inventory, and troubleshooting to maintain accuracy. Present reports and chair laboratory meetings, shaping the direction of the lab. Uphold safety protocols, ensuring all activities comply with health & safety regulations. Additional Responsibilities: Quality Officer: Work closely with the quality team to ensure ISO 15189 compliance. Oversee audits, documentation, incident investigations, and risk assessments. Immunohistochemistry Lead: Drive excellence in Immunohistochemistry, ensuring efficiency and adherence to standards. Collaboration, validation and innovation: Collaborate with pathologists, clinical trial managers, and clients to provide expert insights. Stay at the forefront of pathology advancements through ongoing training and development. Address unexpected challenges, ensuring the lab runs seamlessly. Innovate and validate new laboratory methods in accordance with UKAS 15189:2022. Engage in research & development, advancing tissue labeling and digital pathology. Maintain strict data privacy and regulatory compliance, including GDPR and UKAS standards. Required Skills & Experience Mandatory: Degree in Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry. HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist. 7 years in Pathology, with expertise in Hist ology, Immunohistochemistry, and Special Stains. 3 years in Histopathology with experience in UKAS-accredited labs. Completion of IBMS Higher Specialist Portfolio or a Master's Degree. Proven record of CPD and competency compliance. Additional Skills & Experience: Proficiency in advanced laboratory techniques (e.g., multiplex assays, fluorescence microscopy, digital pathology). Strong mentorship and supervisory skills. In-depth understanding of laboratory findings and their implications for research. Ability to troubleshoot equipment and maintain lab operations at peak efficiency. Knowledge of data analysis tools, with familiarity in R or Python being a plus. Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams. Experience with GLP regulations and quality assurance frameworks.
