Mentorship and full training will be given through a local dermatology competency assessment framework to the successful candidate to become skilled in the field of inflammatory skin disease, biologics and drug monitoring. Following successful completion of competencies, the specialist nurse will be expected to undertake the non-medical prescribing course to support prescribing within the team.
Main duties of the job
For this high profile and challenging role, a specialist interest in and knowledge of dermatology is required. You will have clinical experience working in a dermatology setting at Band 5 level.
Consideration will be given to recruiting a Band 5 nurse into a training post role. Band 6 will be awarded after the successful candidate has completed training and competency assessments.
The post may involve working across sites at Salford Royal Hospital, Fairfield Hospital and a location covering Stockport activity (currently in Altrincham).
You will work in conjunction with an established team of specialist nurses and the rest of the dermatology team. The emphasis will be on supporting the screening and monitoring of patients on topical treatments and disease modifying medication, including systemic and biological therapies, under the guidance of the Nurse Consultant and Consultant Dermatologists.
You will be responsible for screening, providing education, advice and follow up to support and empower patients to manage their own conditions effectively, thereby improving quality of life. This includes acting as a resource and support for local GPs, Community Nurses, and Home care Pharmacy teams.
You will be a highly motivated, self-managing nurse, with the drive and enthusiasm to continue to develop the Dermatology Nursing Service, coaching and supporting junior team members and students.
