What is the job?
We are looking for a HR Generalist to provide high quality advice and support to employees and managers on daily relations matters, support entity cultural change initiatives such as IIP and LEAN, and support the Senior Human Resources Generalist in expediting employee performance related strategies and counter measures that prioritise business needs and minimise operational damage.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00 am – 4.30 pm. Hybrid working available following completion of training.

We use these products in manufacturing and research, from fibre optics to piezo motors. We are the gold standard with optics laboratories worldwide. There are now 22 facilities across the world in 9 countries. Here in Ely, we are responsible for the Motion Control and Optical Tables product line.
Where you will be working?
It’s a hybrid role, working in our new purpose-built facility in Witchford, Ely as well as your home. Our purpose-built facility is just 12 miles from Cambridge, within the beautiful mediaeval city of Ely. There are train and bus links to Ely from Kings Cross and Liverpool Street London, and our site is within distance of Ely train station and Ely Bus station.
Requirements
What is essential to us…
* Minimum 3 years of Human Resources experience.
* A high level of integrity and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
* Knowledge of UK employment legislation and regulations.
* The ability to mediate in difficult situations.
* The ability to make HR decisions using professional judgment to assess risk and options.
* Strong customer care and relationship management skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team.
* Experience with Microsoft software, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
* Ability to anticipate needs and solve problems proactively.
* CIPD level 3-7 qualification is desirable but not essential.
What we would like you to do/ to see…
* Action absence management in line with company policy, support managers with the effective monitoring and management of employee absences including holiday, sickness, emergency leave etc.
* Provide support and guidance on performance management issues, disciplinary and grievance cases, this includes case management through to conclusion of issues.
* Assisting employees with their day-to-day HR needs.
* Support the HR Admin team on day-to-day HR process and queries
* Support the Senior HR Generalist to mentor managers in the consistent application of HR policies and practices to enable them to become self-sufficient in good people management practice.
* Support the Senior HR Generalist to prepare and implement HR strategy
* Contribute to the creation of new policies or implementing changes to existing policies.
* Instilling confidence in managers and employees that you are unbiased and neutral in facilitating resolution to issues and concerns.
* Ensure employee relation cases are managed to meet best practice requirements.
* Monitor and develop performance appraisal systems.
* Monitor all employee records to include maternity, paternity requests and absence and sickness.
* Manage HR personnel files to ensure they are kept up-to-date.
* Support the HR Administration team in developing starter and leaver procedures
* Working alongside the Senior HR Generalist on strategic HR projects.
* Support the Senior HR Generalist to manage investigations and complex employee relations issues including redundancy and grievance
