BMS Projects Estimator – Manchester - £45,000 A great opportunity has presented itself within one of our key clients for a Building Management Systems Projects Estimator to join their dynamic team. About the company The company is one of the largest Controls Systems Houses in the North West of England and offers a wide range of market leading products that will provide engineered solutions for the control of services within any building environment. Built on repeat business, the company delivers new build and long-term maintenance contracts including the installation of smart controls to manage lighting, heating, refrigeration and other specialist energy consuming equipment. The BMS Project Estimator position In this position, you will be assisting the Sales Director and the team to price and tender new BMS projects. This position is crucial for accurately estimating project costs, ensuring competitive and profitable bids, and contributing to the successful delivery of the company’s BMS solutions. This position will be office based with some flexibility to work remotely. Main responsibilities Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for control and automation projects across various sectors including, labs, science centres, MOD sites, commercial buildings. Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand the scope of work and identify key requirements. Attend occasional Site surveys ahead of costing. Collaborate with engineering, commissioning, and project management teams to gather necessary information and insights for precise estimations. Utilize your expertise in Trend systems to ensure all relevant components and functionalities are accounted for in the estimates. Evaluate supplier quotes to ensure accuracy and competitiveness. Maintaining and updating the company database of historical costs and pricing to support future estimates and improve accuracy. Participate in bid review meetings, providing insights and recommendations to optimize project profitability and feasibility. Assist in the development of proposals and tender documents, ensuring all financial aspects are clearly articulated. Continuously monitor industry trends, material costs, and market conditions to update and refine estimation practices. Support project managers during the handover process by providing detailed documentation and clarification of estimated costs. To be successful in this position, you will need to have the following skills: Experience in estimating within the control and automation systems industry. Proficiency with Building Management Systems and a deep understanding of their application in control and automation projects. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project). Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising on accuracy. Performance will be measured on the quality of the work (proposals), updating records regularly, accuracy and technical interpretation of mechanical equipment schedules, mechanical schematics and M&E specifications.
