Position: Positive Behaviour Support Worker
Location: Swindon, Wiltshire
Type: Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hpw)
Salary: Starting salary £24,664 pa, (£12.61 per hour), plus great benefits including health cash plan! Additional Sleep-in and On-Call enhancements.
About the Role:
Join us as our Support Worker (known internally as Positive Behavioural Support Worker). You’ll provide person-centred and strengths-based support to our customer (let's call them S) and help them reach their full potential.
Customer Profile:
S has complex needs, including a moderate learning disability and autism. S is intelligent, independent, and enjoys gaming, TV, the outdoors, and animals.
Typical Day as Our Support Worker:
* Helping S overcome barriers and lead a fulfilling life.
* Recognising strengths and abilities to help S take small steps at her pace.
* Supporting S using Positive Behavioural Support to promote independence and social inclusion.
* Monitoring S’s mental and physical health and taking positive risk management steps.
* Assisting S in participating in her favourite activities and trying new things.
* Working alongside colleagues to provide consistent support.
Requirements:
* Experience in a Complex Care setting, with a Level 2 Diploma in Adult Health & Social Care or willingness to work towards it.
* Experience as a Support Worker for individuals with complex needs or behaviours of distress.
* Passion for promoting independence and social inclusion through a person-centred approach.
* Calm and adaptable approach to meet S's needs, even during challenges.
* Experience in positive risk management for customer and colleague safety.
* Understanding of Makaton is a plus but not essential.
About Our Team:
You’ll be part of a team led by Deb, our Registered Manager with over 8 years of experience and a clinical nursing background.
Job Details:
* Based in Swindon, working between 7am and 10pm.
* Working long days of 15-hour shifts on a rota basis.
* Shifts may include days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and occasional waking nights.
* Potential for “sleep ins” with payment of £50.
* Comprehensive induction with ongoing learning and support.
* Enhanced DBS check required, which we will cover.
