What you’ll be doing: As a member of the Care & Support Service within Corserv Care, your role as an Area Supervisor will be to ensure the aims and objectives of the organisation and division are met, by providing people with safe, responsive, effective, compassionate and high-quality care. The role of the Area Supervisor is to be on the frontier between health and social care, helping individuals to focus on building their strengths and achieving their goals. The daily tasks for this role will include supporting staff and the individuals who use our service in the community. You will be required to be a role model to staff providing hands on support and mentoring whilst supporting new staff achieve the required competency levels. The role will require you to receive feedback from those who use the service and to be a front line of communication to the office to enable a responsive and effective service achieving the desired outcomes of the individuals we support. The post will be working closely with families, health professionals and the team to ensure the people supported are assisted to achieve goals and outcomes as planned. This is a community-based role and will require you to meet targets in line with Care and Support’s key performance indicators. The Area Supervisor will need to work with their own initiative and plan their workload enabling them to support the Care Coordinators to remain compliant and supporting the staff to learn, feel valued and provide vital mentoring and communication as and when needed. The role will require a degree of flexibility in approach to achieve compliance and maintain high levels of performance. Your job will be: To assist Care Coordinators by undertaking and contributing to the assessment and review of individuals and the development of their support plan. This includes accurate record keeping and report writing within the agreed IT systems. In addition to delivering hands on care in individuals' own homes a proportion of time will be spent ensuring accurate record keeping and compliance is achieved within the community. Support Care Coordinators with the induction, training and supervision of new staff members by sharing expertise and knowledge within the team. Support service users by being the centre of communication between the service user, office and team. Have oversight of MAR charts and documents within service users’ homes. Enable regular auditing and raising concerns with the care coordinators where required. Offer safe and appropriate support to each individual in a person-centred way. Be responsive to needs on the community within your area on your working days. Comply with and maintain best practice in relation to Health & safety matters, which will include basic risk assessments and the prevention and control of infection. Ensure support is provided to the level stipulated in the Care Plan. To use an innovative approach to positively support service users to achieve as much independence as they are able to. Comply with the code of conduct, staff handbook and other Council policies and procedures in order to promote quality standards, values, beliefs and principles of care that respect Human rights. Maintain accurate and factual records as a legal requirement in order to evidence and communicate actions and outcomes effectively to others Maintain safe working practices as a lone worker and alongside others to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of service users, self and others Monitor the health, wellbeing and progress of service users and report any concerns/changes back to management in order to protect and safeguard vulnerable adults Ensure a positive and flexible approach to the variety of tasks and work patterns within the role as the service develops to enable effective and appropriate staffing levels to meet demand potentially including working weekends and evenings or early mornings. You will need: NVQ level 2 in care or equivalent and/or experience and demonstrable understanding of reablement and care provision. Some experience in supporting vulnerable adults in need – either informally or in paid employment. Awareness of physical, emotional and mental health issues affecting vulnerable adults. Proficient in organising self and others. Basic IT skills to be able to undertake e-learning and keep updated with Organisational information. Flexibility of working hours - able to participate in the planned shift rotas including early mornings and weekend working. Good communication skills - calm and measured response and able to manage in a crisis. Driving licence and vehicle. This post will involve travel throughout the county and it is a condition of employment that you can exercise satisfactory travel mobility in order to fulfil the obligations of the role.
