Position Title: Fitness Manager

We specialize in managing state-of-the-art fitness and recreation centers for municipalities, hospitals, community colleges and foundations nationwide. The Fitness Manager provides leadership and supervision to the Fitness, Aquatic, Group Exercise and Medical Integration departments. They ensure that all departments deliver an exceptional member experience while providing the highest level of customer service to members, guests and prospects of the facility. The Fitness Manager oversees all programming and ensures that services offered are profitable and meet the varying needs of members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership and supervision to supervisors, coordinators and associates in all managed departments.
2. Promote and effectively sell all ancillary services including, but not limited to personal training, medically integrated programs, wellness coaching and nutrition services.
3. Respond to member feedback with a high level of professionalism, demonstrate and provide customer service standards for all associates, and intervene with service recovery if conflicts and/or issues occur.
4. Work towards achieving established satisfaction survey metrics and provide coaching and direction to achieve threshold scores as it relates to member and guest satisfaction.
5. Assist Center Director with daily center operations and provide leadership in the absence of the Center Director.
6. Maintain knowledge of all events and activities within the center and assist with all center marketing as it relates to member communication, promotion of ancillary services and retention.
7. Assist with member retention by encouraging the development of member retention programs on a consistent basis.
8. Represent and promote fitness and medical integration services to clinical staff and healthcare professionals in the community.
9. Ensure there is a high level of engagement between the Medical Advisory Committee and the center’s programs, services and safety protocols.
10. Oversee and ensure compliance with all physician approval and clearance procedures, testing procedures and medically-integrated programs.
11. Review and evaluate fitness programs and services based on attendance, cost-effectiveness and member interest.
12. Coordinate and ensure that all mock codes, safety drills and monthly safety audits are performed in compliance with Power Wellness standards and that all incident reports are followed up with appropriately.
13. Make recommendations for purchasing new fitness equipment as needed, and stay current with industry trends.
14. Responsible for the upkeep of all fitness equipment to include preventative maintenance, servicing, and re-upholstering.
15. Present a positive image of good health and fitness through a positive attitude and a healthy role model for the team and members.
16. Coordinate student internship programs to comply with Power Wellness standards, and allow for a positive learning experience to qualified graduate and undergraduate students.
17. Exercise discretion and independent judgement in providing leadership, direction and oversight to group exercise instructors.
18. Assist with hiring and training of qualified, professional group exercise instructors (land and aqua) through conducting interviews and auditions.
19. Observe and participate in instructor classes on a routine basis to ensure proper techniques and safe instruction is being provided.
20. Provide monthly statistics of attendance records for all classes.
21. Create a group exercise (land and aqua) class schedule to meet the needs of the members.
22. Teach regularly scheduled classes and oversee the substitution of classes as needed through teaching or delegation.
23. Plan in-service workshops and certifications for instructors to support the maintenance of CEC's required to keep certification current.
24. Contribute to the marketing efforts of the center and group exercise programs both within the center and the community.
25. Exercise discretion and independent judgement in providing leadership and center oversight for day-to-day operations across all departments as it relates to member, employee or facility-related issues that might arise.
26. Encourage employee professional growth through training, supervision, empowerment, continuous performance management and feedback.
27. Provide regular feedback, write and conduct interim and annual performance reviews.
28. Conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings.
29. Participate in management meetings and all-team meetings.
30. Assist with department work schedules and time cards.
31. Responsible for hiring and training all Fitness Department staff.
32. Have the ability to perform all the duties outlined in the Fitness Specialist and Personal Training job description as needed.
33. Assist with development of department operating and capital budgets annually.
34. Work Manager on Duty shifts as assigned.
35. Maintain friendly, well trained and customer service oriented staff, and inter-department relationships.
36. Be proficient in all core business software as it relates to job duties and responsibilities.
37. Work towards meeting departmental and organizational goals.
38. The ability to be flexible and accommodating as it relates to center hours, work schedules and scheduling appointments for prospects and members.
39. Must meet all safety requirements and certifications necessary to perform job duties.
40. Demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures including the use of facility paging system and confidence in calling and communicating with EMS.
41. Demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures and confidence communicating with EMS.
42. Participate in Company's HIPAA and related training.
43. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during interactions and work related relationships with all persons at the center including but not limited to members, guests and employees as provided in the Employee Handbook at the time of hire.

45. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
* Bachelor's degree from a 4 year college or university in a health-related, exercise science, kinesiology, or physical education major required. Master's degree preferred.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in the fitness/wellness industry required, preferably in a fitness facility.
* Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required.
* CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire.
* Nationally recognized NCCA accredited certification required.
* ACSM clinical exercise certification highly desirable.
* Must possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills, and the ability to work with members in a positive, service based manner.
* Ability to multi-task and maintain a controlled and professional demeanor with a high level of organizational skills and efficiency.
* Proficient computer skills.
