Looking for a change from practice but still want to use your nursing knowledge?
We're looking for an enthusiastic, driven Vet Nurse to join our veterinary team at our London office for a busy and rewarding role.
About this role:
As Vet Nurse at our London office, you’ll:
* work on our Shared Adoption Scheme and Veterinary Support Fund, where we support adopters with procedures and treatment, including liaising directly with owners and veterinary practices,
* staff our central pharmacy on a rota basis, including handling postal prescriptions, ordering, and dispensing medication, ensuring guidelines are adhered to,
* support other vet nurses in our rehoming centres across the country, including providing locum cover.
About you:
For success in this role, you’ll need to be a registered vet nurse, with recent practice experience. You’ll have excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and build strong working relationships with other departments, adopters, and veterinary professionals. It is essential that you have an in-depth understanding of dogs and their welfare requirements, and how these factor into veterinary decision making.
Please note, we have two maternity cover positions available in the team. One position is for approximately twelve months, and the other is for approximately ten months.
About Dogs Trust:
We love dogs. That’s why we do whatever we can to make sure every four-legged friend gets the love they deserve. We’ll never put a healthy dog down, so our work is focused on helping dogs in need, supporting owners every step of the walk, and creating a better world for dogs in the future. It’s what we’ve been doing since 1891 and how we’ve grown to become the UK’s leading dog charity, helping 12,000 loyal friends find their forever homes every year.
About this team:
The Veterinary Department is a friendly team of veterinary nurses, veterinary surgeons and administrative staff working in the London Office. The primary responsibility for this team is to provide case guidance and management options for dogs within our care across our network of Rehoming Centres and other veterinary related schemes such as Outreach, Shared Adoption Scheme (SAS), Veterinary Support Fund (VSF) and the Emergency Trust Fund (ETF).
