The role can be based in Leeds or St Helens, but regular travel is required to our depots across the UK, including Leeds, Bristol, Cumbernauld, and Gateshead. You’ll typically work 2 days from home and 3 days at various depot s, with some travel to the South.
About the role…
Reporting to the Fleet & Indirect Procurement Manager, as the Assistant Fleet Manager, you will be a key part of the fleet team, delivering a safe, compliant, suitable and cost-effective fleet to support the business needs. This is a fantastic development role for someone looking to step into fleet management from a hands-on workshop or compliance background.
You will play a critical role in optimising accident and maintenance management while ensuring all operator licence requirements are met. As well as supporting our transition to electric vehicles (EVs) and sustainability goals
What you’ll be doing…
* Managing in-house accident processes to align with company objectives and cost targets.
* Supporting Operator Licence compliance across our UK fleet.
* Helping to optimise procurement strategies for fleet-related goods and services (vehicles, fuel, insurance, leasing agreements, etc.).
* Contributing to sustainability goals, supporting our journey to Carbon Net Zero by 2030.
* Working closely with internal teams (operations, finance) to ensure fleet needs are met.
* Assisting with budgeting, tracking performance, and managing KPIs related to accident management and maintenance.
* Supporting driver safety initiatives, inductions, and accident investigations.
What we’re looking for...
* CPC Level 3 qualification (preferred but not essential) - if you don’t have it, you must be committed to obtaining it within 6 months (funded by us).
* Strong knowledge of Operator Licence compliance
* Experience working across mixed fleets (cars, vans, HGVs) in a fast-paced environment
* A track record of delivering efficiencies and cost savings
* Excellent communicator with strong influencing and problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage multiple complex projects and tight deadlines
* Experience using fleet maintenance platforms
* A full, clean UK driver’s licence
