Job Overview
FLS Central Region covers Central Scotland and balances traditional timber production with maintenance of extensive areas of open ground and world-class visitor hotspots, renewables developments, and the management of a number of Designated sites and Scheduled Monuments. The Planning & Environment Team works closely with other teams and specialists to design and shape our forests and land now and into the future.
Responsibilities
The team leads on:
1. Planning our land to meet place-specific objectives;
2. Programming and organising the work that needs to be undertaken;
3. Facilitating our environmental objectives.
The Planning & Environment Manager is a key role, responsible for:
1. Providing environmental expertise to inform land management planning and programming of future works on the National Forests and Land;
2. Engaging in significant project work that requires senior management collaboration and representation;
3. Providing leadership, direction, and support to teams working within the Planning & Environment function across the Region;
4. Taking lead on environmental work.
Requirements
For this role, it is essential to have:
1. Strong experience with managing teams and engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders;
2. Strong experience in Forest Management, Conservation, or Land Management;
3. Familiarity with the UK Forest Standard or other environmental regulatory frameworks.
