CK Group - Science, Clinical and Technical
CK Group is recruiting for a Shift Senior Site Chemist to join a hazardous waste management company, based at their site near Birmingham. This is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of up to £32,000 per annum.
Note: This role involves shift work, including nights, and outdoor work, not laboratory work.
Role Overview
As a Senior Site Chemist, your responsibilities include:
1. Accepting and inspecting all incoming hazardous and non-hazardous waste assignments, following relevant regulations and site procedures.
2. Ensuring all waste consignments have appropriate paperwork.
3. Completing waste safety checks for acceptance, storage, processing, and transfer.
4. Sampling received waste for analysis by the internal laboratory.
5. Routing waste to minimize costs while maintaining legality and compliance.
6. Recording waste acceptance in the SAP system.
7. Labeling waste with all relevant information.
8. Processing waste through bulking, sorting, segregating, listing, and re-packing as required.
9. Providing technical support to staff on site.
10. Completing relevant outgoing paperwork.
Location & Working Hours
The site is near Birmingham and accessible from Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Lichfield, and Stafford.
The role involves working 40 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern:
* Morning shift: 6am - 3pm
* Afternoon shift: 1pm - 10pm
* Night shift: 10pm - 6am
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
* Degree or HNC in Chemistry or a related field.
* Previous experience in the waste industry is essential.
* SAP experience is essential.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
* Willingness to work outdoors in hazardous chemical environments and undertake manual tasks.
