You will provide support with day-to-day activities while encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference in their lives.
Our teams provide care and support for individuals with different conditions at Priory sites across the UK.
It would be ideal if you have previous experience in a similar role. However, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviors to make a difference in people’s lives. Full training is provided, along with numerous career pathways, including our Nurse Apprenticeship program.
Responsibilities:
1. Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating, and personal care.
2. Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes.
3. Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning, and movement of individuals.
4. Providing assistance and support to attend medical appointments.
5. Observing, monitoring, and recording physical and emotional well-being, and quickly reporting any changes to senior staff.
6. Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature.
2. Empathy, understanding, and patience.
3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
4. Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.
5. The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges.
6. Competent in verbal and written English.
7. A healthcare qualification is desirable but not essential.

Role Description:
Newhouse is located in the semi-rural village of Hurlford, near Kilmarnock, Scotland. Our home offers residential support for 22 adults with a primary learning disability diagnosis, who may also have physical health needs or be on the autism spectrum. Our passionate team is on hand to provide the right level of support to allow individuals to live as independently as possible.
