Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Trials Assistant to work in our Research Department within the Dorset Clinic Research Centre (DCRC).
This is an opportunity to join the research team to help deliver commercial & NIHR portfolio studies that are within the pipeline of the DCRC. Working in the research team, you will join an enthusiastic, driven, and caring team to help provide research across the trust for new and existing studies.
Our team participates in research within many different specialties and areas within the DCRC. Enthusiasm, self-motivation, flexibility, and drive will be required to ensure the success of this post. You will be involved in all aspects of the research process from study start-up, recruitment, and delivery, to close out of a study. You will need to have an excellent level of written and verbal communication skills and good IT skills. Within this post, you will be expected to work as a Clinical Trials Assistant (CTA) but also be flexible at supporting the Data Team in collecting & entering data in a timely fashion, which you will be fully trained to deliver this aspect.
Main Duties of the Job
You will work in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, implementing studies to translate scientific discoveries into improved patient outcomes within the DCRC.
Previous research experience is not necessary as all training and development will be provided, although clinical skills of performing venepuncture and laboratory skills would be advantageous (but not essential).
Along with the relevant and appropriate experience, you will need to demonstrate:

* Excellent communication skills to provide guidance and support to patients and colleagues
* Good time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

The purpose of conducting clinical research is to test that a new drug, product, device, or process is safe and effective. The collection of information relating to the conduct of the trial and response of the patient is vital to the accuracy of the results. Clinical trial data refers to the patient records, the assessments, test results, use of the product under review and any comparator, and in some cases quality of life of the patient.

Qualifications

* Good level of general education as evidenced by exam results or qualifications. Good Clinical Practice Course (or complete within one month of employment).
* NVQ level 3 in Care or equivalent experience
