We are seeking a skilled Lead Maintenance Fitter to lead the maintenance team and ensure efficient operations at the Doncaster site. Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Team Development: Lead, guide, and work hands-on with the maintenance team (approx. 80% on-site involvement).
2. Training: Develop the skills and capacity of the maintenance team.
3. Supervision & Compliance: Manage maintenance operations to meet health and safety standards.
4. Preventative Maintenance: Implement and regularly review preventive maintenance plans (PPMs).
5. Inspections & Compliance: Conduct plant and equipment checks for optimal performance and safety.
6. Budget Management: Oversee maintenance budgets to balance cost-efficiency and high standards.
7. Collaboration: Coordinate with contractors and suppliers for quality services.
8. Continuous Improvement: Implement initiatives to enhance maintenance practices and reduce costs.
Day-to-Day Tasks
1. Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
2. Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance work.
3. Monitor spare parts and supplies, ensuring timely reorders.
4. Train and develop maintenance staff for improved efficiency.
5. Respond promptly to emergency equipment breakdowns.
Experience Requirements
1. Extensive Maintenance Experience: Prior lead role experience, especially with heavy plant.
2. Practical Skills: Proficiency in welding, burning, and maintaining/repairing conveyors, motors, and gearboxes.
3. Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of compliance and safety regulations.
4. Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Specific Duties Include
1. Regular inspections of tool kits and equipment.
2. Scheduling and recording servicing of mobile plant.
3. Conducting spot checks on pre-use and PPM completions.
4. Implementing fire safety protocols for welding and burning.
5. Reviewing and updating PPM tasks for key machinery.
6. Assigning support roles such as maintenance labourer/greaser.
7. Keeping detailed stock and spare part records for easy access.
