You will be supporting a young man with a spinal injury to achieve optimal independence in his own home and in the community. You will follow a client-specific Support Plan, training and company policies whilst providing assistance, guidance and encouragement as directed by the Client and Case Manager. You will work within an experienced and proficient team on a 1 to 1 basis during waking nights. Personal care duties are an essential part of this post, full training will be provided. You will be working 3 nights per week giving you 3 to 4 days off between shifts maintaining a good work/life balance. You will receive your Rota 6 weeks in advance. Qualifications pertaining to health and social care. Punctual and good time-keeping. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal. Awareness of risk and the ability to identify areas of risk and present ideas of how to reduce that risk. Experience of working in a similar role. Clean DBS. Ability to work waking night shifts (3 nights a week on a rota basis). Key Responsibilities: To assist the client with personal care tasks where appropriate and enable him to be as independent as possible. To undertake training and administer medication as appropriate and as specified in the client’s Support Plan. To undertake moving and handling training and adhere to training guidelines at all times as per health and safety guidelines. To be responsible for the client via the Team Leader and Case Manager. To motivate, support and encourage the client’s participation in a variety of domestic pursuits. To carry out a programme of support, rehabilitation and maintenance under the direction of the Case Manager and other professionals. To undertake training, regular reviews and receive clinical supervision as arranged by the Case Manager. To liaise closely with the Case Manager and other professionals. To monitor and support agreed rehabilitation techniques and strategies. To participate in the monitoring and undertaking of equipment maintenance safety checks. To travel with, act as driver to, and accompany the client on community activities if required. To accompany the client on holidays / weekends away if required. To support the client and/or undertake some household tasks (e.g. meal preparation and laundry) to an agreed standard. To ensure client confidentiality in record keeping and discussions concerning the client. Any other appropriate and reasonable task in relation to the employment as agreed with the Case Manager, client, family, or rehabilitation team. Carry out any other reasonable duties required to ensure the client’s care needs are met. Preferred Criteria: Experience of working with people with a disability. Experience of working in the community on a 1-to-1 basis. Experience of working in a client’s home. Experience of working within a team of professionals / therapists. Experience of Autonomic Dysreflexia. Interest in watching sport. Pay & Conditions: Sponsorship is NOT Available for this Job. You will be responsible to and supervised by the Case Manager and or Team Leader. You will receive a permanent contract, which includes a 6-month probationary period. Annual leave - 5.6 weeks Training and regular supervision provided. You will be paid via BACS credit into your bank account on a calendar monthly basis. Rates of pay: £16.00 per hour. £17.00 per hour during weekends. £17.50 per hour overtime. £27.00 per hour during bank holidays.
