Job title: Senior Hardware Engineer
Location: Warton
Salary: £47,683+ (dependent on skills and experience)
What you'll be doing:
* Design IT computing server cabinets including assessment of electrical safety and product security
* Produce Hardware General Assembly drawings and Electrical drawings using industry standard drawing toolsets such as Microsoft Visio
* Hardware build of modular computing server cabinets, using basic hand and power tools (screwdrivers, spanners, drills, etc.)
* Installation of network cabling within the cabinets and power distribution hardware, completing all hardware configuration activities including documentation and release
* Assessment of safety and environmental risks
* Production of safety test procedures to satisfy the electrical test requirements for compliance to the Low Voltage Directive (and CE Marking or equivalent)
* Production of basic functional test procedures to confirm that selected IT hardware is operational, along with supporting hardware commissioning at customer premises
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) subject or equivalent relevant experience
* Experience in mechanical and electrical design, testing, and electrical safety assessment
* Use of standard Microsoft Office tools for word processing, presentations and spreadsheets
* Competent in the build of IT computing cabinets
* Design experience is essential, using tools such as Microsoft Visio
Desirable:
* Familiarity with similar CAD packages is desirable

Systems and Test Solutions Hardware Team:
The Test Solutions Hardware team provide an end-to-end capability for the specification, design, development, production, testing, integration, training and post-delivery support of complex computing and test systems. Test Solutions is a specialist multi-disciplinary organisation covering Systems, Software/Simulations, Electronic/Electrical, Design, Computing Hardware, Support and Training. A strong focus and experience in Product Safety (UK CA or EU CE Marking) and Product Environmental (RoHS and REACH) is required, with experience of meeting tight timescales and budgets.
The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, designing hardware, interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings, building and safety testing IT Server Racks/Cabinets. There will also be an opportunity to travel overseas to Qatar or KSA.
