Production Engineers at Facebook are hybrid software/systems engineers who ensure that Facebook's services run smoothly and have the capacity for future growth. They are embedded in every product and infrastructure team and participate in significant engineering efforts across the company. Our team comprises individuals with varying experience levels, from new graduates to industry veterans. Relevant industry experience is valuable but less important than demonstrated abilities and attitude. At Facebook, Production Engineering involves exploring uncharted waters daily, and continuous learning is essential. This position is full-time.
Responsibilities
1. Own back-end services like Hadoop data warehouses, front-end services such as Messenger and Newsfeed, infrastructure components like Memcache, and more.
2. Write and review code, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug complex problems on large-scale systems.
3. Share on-call responsibilities with your engineering team and act as an escalation contact for service incidents.
4. Collaborate with top engineers on impactful projects; your work will be in production and used by millions globally.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
* 7+ years of experience with UNIX and TCP/IP network fundamentals.
* 7+ years of coding experience in languages such as PHP, Python, C++, and Java.
* Experience with software frameworks, APIs, and internet service architectures (e.g., load balancing, LAMP, CDN).
* Experience configuring and maintaining applications like Apache, Memcached, MySQL, and network services.
Preferred Qualifications
* BS or MS in Computer Science.
