JOB SUMMARY
Perform a full range of emergency response duties including fire suppression, hazardous materials response, specialized rescue, and responses to manmade or natural disasters.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
* Respond to aircraft incidents and emergencies, structural alarms, grass or brushfires threatening life or property, vehicle fires or accidents, and petroleum, oils, and lubricants (POL) fires or spills, limited to hazardous materials operational level response.
* Drive and inspect fire department vehicles; operate firefighting equipment and tools.
* Exercise judgment and initiative; receive and execute directions from Crew Chief or another senior member.
* Complete daily work assignments.
* Maintain firefighting vehicles and equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
* Maintain living quarters and the fire station's overall appearance.
* Perform other duties as assigned by management.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
* At least 4 years of relevant experience preferred.
* IFSAC or ProBoard certifications including Airport Firefighter, Driver/Operator ARFF, Driver/Operator Pumper, Driver/Operator Mobile Water Supply, Hazardous Material Operations, and Telecommunicator I/II.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective working relationships.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
* Effective communication skills in writing, on the telephone, and in person.
* Valid driver’s license with home-of-record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS
* Physical requirements may include lifting up to 35 lbs., team lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing, extended standing, stretching, or bending.
* Ability to sit and concentrate for extended periods, with the mobility to respond immediately to emergencies.
* Flexibility regarding working hours and quick response to urgent requirements.
* Ability to live and work in harsh climatic and austere conditions, with potential for moderate to extreme physical danger.
