Repeat Prescriptions & Document Management Clerk
A busy 4-partner GP Practice is seeking an enthusiastic Prescribing Team Member to join the friendly team at our surgery in Kidderminster.
Main duties of the job
The role involves dealing effectively with patient prescription queries and a variety of other admin duties. Excellent telephone and administration skills and the ability to work under pressure are essential. NHS or medical/healthcare experience is preferred.
Job responsibilities
To work with other members of the Repeat Prescription Team and wider administration team to ensure the safe, efficient and effective handling of Repeat Prescription Requests from patients by telephone, email and paper form. Management and coding of documents inbox in conjunction with other team members ensuring correctly filed to patients' records and correctly coded in a timely manner.
1. Dealing with repeat prescription requests from patients whether by phone, email, online or paper.
2. Ensuring medication synchronization where appropriate and within levels of competence as discussed with Clinical Pharmacist.
3. Referring queries to Clinical Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician for advice as appropriate.
4. Ensuring if patients are identified as requiring additional services – e.g., blood tests/vaccinations they are signposted to Reception to make the appropriate appointments.
5. Management of Recalls in line with Birth month system for NHS Health Checks, Asthma, Hypertension, ensuring all patients have had at least 3 invites and these are correctly coded to the patients' record.
6. Opportunistic invitations to patients when they contact the practice to request their repeat medications.
7. Administrative support for all Research projects the practice participates in.
8. Filing and Coding of clinical documents which arrive in the MIU inbox.
9. Providing backup cover for the external post if required.
This list is not exhaustive and you may be required to undertake other duties as deemed appropriate by the Practice Managers and Partners of the surgeries.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
Experience
* Excellent telephone and administration skills and the ability to work under pressure are essential.
* NHS or medical/healthcare experience is preferred.
