New Opening: Heavy Vehicle & Mobile Plant Construction Technician Apprentice
Working for Northumbrian Roads, a subsidiary of Holcim UK, we are excited to open applications for our Mobile Plant Construction & Heavy Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship program, designed to nurture the next generation of talent. This role offers a unique blend of on-the-job training and academic learning, providing an excellent foundation for a successful career in mobile plant engineering within the construction industry. Based in our state-of-the-art facilities, this is a golden opportunity for individuals passionate about working in the construction sector.
Apprenticeship Overview:
1. Engage in a comprehensive training program combining hands-on experience with academic learning.
2. Learn the fundamentals of mobile construction plant technologies, including chassis design, engines, transmissions, electrical systems, braking systems, and hydraulic systems.
3. Work alongside experienced professionals to gain practical skills.
4. Participate in projects focusing on innovation and sustainability in construction.
Typical Placement can include:
1. Following all relevant Company, Health and Safety & Quality procedures and processes.
2. Mobile Plant Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine servicing, inspections, and repairs on mobile plant, heavy vehicles, and associated trailers, ensuring compliance with manufacturer and industry standards.
3. Diagnostic Procedures: Utilize diagnostic equipment and logical problem-solving techniques to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical faults.
4. Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe and efficient workshop environment.
5. Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with internal customers, providing clear explanations of work carried out and any additional requirements.
6. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all work performed, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal obligations.

What you’ll need:
Our minimum entry requirements are:
1. 5 GCSEs Grade C or over or a grade 4 or more in Mathematics, English Language/Literature (or equivalent).

2. Ability to work with hand tools and operate machinery safely.
3. Mechanical aptitude and skills.

7. Proactive, eager to learn, and willing to engage in both academic studies and practical work.
No prior professional experience required, but a strong interest in working in the construction industry is essential.
