Purpose of the Role
The Site Installation Manager (SIM) is equal with Construction Manager (CM) in accordance with company framework. The Site Manager reports to the Project Manager Installation (PIM) or to a Site Installation Manager (SIM).
Individual contributor that is fully proficient in applying established standards. Has a knowledge base acquired from experience in a particular area. Works independently and may instruct or coach other professionals.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Responsible for the Planning and Execution of Civil Engineering and Cable Installation works as part of the overall execution Project.
2. Management of involved subcontractors as well as the internal resources assigned to the relevant scope, monitoring against Quality inspection and test plan.
3. Ensure status reporting to the Senior Site Manager/PIM.
4. Ensure good communications and coordination with the relevant internal and external parties.
5. Ensure progress as per project programme, suggest and implement mitigations in case of schedule slippage.
6. Identify risks (including QHSE) and opportunities and conduct proactive work and decide on actions to mitigate identified risks or realise opportunities.
7. Ensure that the work is performed according to Health & Safety and Environmental plans and regulations.
8. Responsible for installation/service, both qualitatively and quantitatively performed in the best possible way, taking into account the required time, resource and cost frames.
Competencies and Qualifications Required for the Position
1. Education: Preferably Degree or formal qualification in civil engineering/Construction Management or equivalent alternatively relevant practical experience obtained from a similar role.
2. Experience: Previous proven experience from turn-key land cable installation projects including civils and cable installation scope. Preferably having outlined understanding of marine cable installations at the landfalls, as marine interconnectors may be part of project interface.
3. Qualification: UK NVQ/SMSTS, CSCS card to suit role, Black or Gold. Temporary works Experience/awareness.
4. Language: Fluent English (additional languages are an advantage).
5. Social Skills: High capacity to establish good relations with client and subcontractor representatives on all levels. Skill to manage a team.
6. Communication: Ability to write and review high quality documentation such as method statements, risk assessments, and construction plans being technically accurate.
7. Technical & Safety: Technical knowledge related to cable installation such as civil engineering works, duct installation, HDD’s. Good knowledge related to safety and quality works within turn key installation execution projects.
Authorities
1. Has the responsibility and authority to carry out activities required in order to achieve the installation or service part of a contract, set goals within delegated frames or budget.
2. Has delegated tasks to ensure HSE in accordance with this role description.
3. Has the economical authorisation via project delegation.
4. To stop activity if a safety issue occurs.
Reporting & Communication
1. Report to the Project Installation Manager (PIM) or Senior Site Installation Manager (Sr SIM).
2. Report status/progress in accordance with the project reporting procedure, for example daily/weekly/monthly reports from land site.
3. Ensure that the registration of deviation of Quality and HSE for the installation/service part is carried out throughout the project period and that reporting is submitted to PIM and the Q&HSE responsible in the project.
4. When necessary participate in site meetings with clients. Responsible for employee performance documentation and feedback to department management.
