The School of Biological and Environmental Sciences has a broad and varied range of taught programmes across the biosciences, environmental sciences, and geography. All programmes encompass both fundamental and applied branches across fields and the majority of taught programmes are accredited by relevant professional bodies. We are involved in extensive research and collaborate with academics in every continent across the world. Our expertise lies in the disciplines of anthropology, animal behaviour, evolutionary and environmental genetics, epigenetics, ecology, geography, climate change and environmental sustainability.
Position Overview
We are now looking for a researcher with skills in spatial analysis to support its Natural Capital Hub. The Natural Capital Hub is a research and knowledge exchange centre working to deliver solutions to embedding natural capital approaches. Many of the hub's projects focus on applying spatial solutions to inform decision making and evaluation of the impacts of nature recovery interventions. The hub works with a range of partners including government bodies (departments, agencies, local) and landowners and conservation organisations on a number of nationally and regionally significant projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Utilize R and GIS for spatial analysis related to natural capital.
2. Produce scientific outputs and reports.
3. Meet deadlines for project deliverables.
Minimum Requirements
Experience of using R and GIS is essential. You should have a postgraduate degree or PhD in the area of ecology or another relevant subject. Experience of producing scientific outputs and reports as well as meeting deadlines is key.
