Reporting to: Engineering & Site Services Manager
Location: Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk
Hours: 20 hours per week
The Opportunity
The overall aim of this role is to carry out day-to-day maintenance and minor repairs throughout the site and to ensure hard surface areas (excluding the yard) are kept clean and presentable. Ensure that all maintenance problems and queries are dealt with quickly, efficiently, and effectively as well as ensuring all maintenance and repair activities are carried out safely and securely, and in line with company policies and procedures, and current health and safety legislation.
What you’ll be doing
The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
* To carry out regular maintenance tasks throughout the site as indicated by the CMMS (Shire) and agreed by the Engineering & Site Services Manager.
* To remain adaptable and flexible to respond in a timely manner to ad hoc tasks raised on Shire by the Maintenance Planner.
* Complete building maintenance activities which could include the following: painting and decorating; minor repairs to plumbing; replacing light bulbs; building furniture, putting up shelves and other general DIY type tasks.
* To clean and be responsible for the tidiness of paths, carpark surfaces, external lighting, and signage within the site grounds.
* To maintain the visitor and staff bike sheds ensuring they are tidy, clean, and safe to use.
* Maintain any equipment used ensuring that items are cleaned, ready for use, and suitably cared for.
* When handling waste to ensure the correct waste disposal is adhered to and is in accordance with Treatt’s procedures.
* To be aware of and adhere to all legislation that is relevant to your work and ensure that all legal requirements are met, including: licensing, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, COSHH, Environmental Health, Fire Precautions, Manual Handling, and any others.
* When required to liaise with and accompany external contractors.
* To be mindful of our internal customers, ensuring high levels of customer service are maintained at all times.
* To respond positively, politely, and promptly to ad-hoc requests.
* To undertake any other reasonable requests set out by the Manager.
What we’re looking for
If you have a genuine passion for what you do and want to work in an environment that celebrates progress, teamwork and dedication, you’re what we’re after.
* A good understanding of both written and spoken English.
* To have at least a basic level of IT skills, for example reading and replying to emails, using maintenance task software, using a smartphone.
* A sound understanding of the main Health & Safety Regulations, including COSHH and risk assessment.
* Ability to perform physical maintenance activities and lift and carry items.
* Ability to manage time effectively and work to deadlines.
* COSHH & HSE training.
* Experience of working in a food manufacturing environment.
