YMCA Robin Hood Group are looking for Health & Safety Manager in a newly created role to help transform how we maintain, innovate,
and educate our staff, residents, and visitors to ensure safety for all within our diverse not-for-profit organisation.
From supported housing, residential care homes, nurseries, café’s and other public spaces, we have a broad portfolio of settings
which each require individual treatment consolidated into our Group Health & Safety approach.
With previous experience of HSE processes and procedures, you will have a real appetite for change, continual improvement, and
transformation as we strive to operate the safest places to work, live and socialise.
The Role
As the Health and Safety Manager, you will be a proactive influence on safety standards and behaviours across a multitude of
services across the wider Robin Hood Group.
You will manage the professional deliverance of all Health and Safety functions and be responsible for the Health and Safety
management systems and promote safe working practices.
Key tasks will include:
* Chairing the Health and Safety Committee
* Be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health and safety policies
* Ensuring compliance with regulations, by identifying and mitigating risks, conducting regular inspections, investigating
incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture across all levels.
* Developing occupational health and safety policy and governance arrangements to align with organisational strategy
* Effectively communicate safety concerns to management and employees, and collaborate with different departments to promote a
safety-first culture
* Develop and implement a health and safety management system that reflects legal and good practice standards
* Develop and implement a system of occupational health and safety inspections and audits to help monitor performance
* Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, training, and other relevant data for analysis and reporting
* Work with the key stakeholders to ensure Statutory Compliance is always achieved at all sites and have structured plans and
processes in place to maintain compliance
* Manage all aspects of Health & Fire Safety, including compliance with applicable safety regulations, implement suitable risk
assessments and procedures for the department and ensure full adherence by staff.
As the Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees by
implementing and maintaining health and safety standards in compliance with legal requirements and company policies. This will
include risk assessments, safety audits, training, and promoting a culture of safety within the organisation.
We would love for you to share your knowledge and expertise by developing and delivering health and safety training programs for
employees. You will also develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to reinforce best practice
across our staff and resident populations.
About You
You will bring extensive operational experience and hold either a IOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health
Leadership and Management or NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals.
If you do not hold either of these qualifications, you must hold a minimum NEBOSH General / Fire or IOSH Level 3 Certificate in
Occupational Safety and Health Principles and Practice and be willing to work towards a level 6 diploma.
You will have an excellent understanding of the relevant legislation associated to health and safety as well as excellent
knowledge of safeguarding, equal opportunities. From your background, you will have extensive knowledge and understanding of the
workings of the Not for Profit and community sector, specific experience within the social housing sector would be of benefit.
You will be an excellent communicator and able to build relationships with people of all levels; this role will support every team
within our Group and you must be able to tailor your approach to suit the team, maintaining the importance of the Health & Safety
message you are there to share.
This role will be Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week but we ask that you are flexible to meet the needs of the service and
department. The role will involve you travelling between all of our sites and locations across Nottinghamshire and East Riding, so
you will need to hold a driving license and have the use of your own vehicle.
