Priory Hospital Barnt Green is located in the stunning Lickey Hills Country Park, 10 miles south of Birmingham City Centre. We have thirty-three beds across three wards including a 10 bedded female NHS Psychiatric Intensive Care, a 13 bedded mixed gender NHS acute service, and a 10 bedded Private Gen Psych Acute ward beds for both men and women.
In addition to providing inpatient services, the hospital has a large Outpatient Department, a Daycare Service and regional conference facilities. These services are expanding to include pathways in ADHD, Autism and CAMHS this year so this is a fantastic and exciting time to join our Therapy Team.
We support a wide range of clients and needs from referral systems including Consultant Psychiatrists and PMI Companies.
Job Advert Role Description
We are looking for an Accredited Therapy Lead to join our Therapy Lead, supporting predominantly our Gen Psych Private Ward (Beacon Ward) but to also support with the oversight of other services including our Day Care programme.
As the Lead Therapist for our Private Gen Psych Ward, you will play a key role in supporting delivery of our established inpatient Gen Psych treatment programme programme.
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate leader, with experience in managing a team and/or therapy service, delivery group therapy and one to one therapy supporting a broad range of mental health difficulties. Experience of working with neurodiversity is desirable.
The Lead therapist will lead a team of therapists to ensure consistent delivery of best practices, with support and oversight of our Therapy Services Manager. As part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) this is a unique opportunity to work alongside some of the leading Consultant Psychiatrists in the field of General Psychiatry treatment, whilst influencing the development of a specialist service in a forward-thinking private psychiatric hospital environment.
Lead therapists carry a small caseload of inpatients and/or outpatients and support with the group programme. The successful candidate should hold practitioner accreditation status with a relevant recognised body.
Key responsibilities:
-Deliver evidence-based treatment interventions: Competency delivering psychological treatment for Depression, Anxiety and Trauma. Ability to develop collaborative formulations and tailor treatment to each individual’s needs. Adherence to the evidence-based models and NICE guidelines. Be able to develop therapeutic relationships with patients to support their engagement in treatment.
-Lead and supervise a team: Strong interpersonal, organisational skills, confidence and assertion to facilitate team meetings, supervision and management of the team caseload including assessment of suitable admissions and discharge plans. Foster a supportive team environment encouraging professional development.
-Service development: a desire to be actively involved in shaping the strategic direction and ongoing development of the service. Showing initiative with contribution to service improvement plans including innovation and staff training.
-Multi-disciplinary collaboration: Work closely with psychiatrists, nurses and the wider therapy department to provide a holistic, person-centred approach to care. Develop positive working relationships with the hospital team and professionals that support our work.
-Clinical Governance: Ensure the therapy team offer care in line with Priory policies and guidelines. Monitor outcomes and alter treatment plans as necessary.
