Role: Graduate Quantity Surveyor
Quantity Surveyor Reporting to: Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager
Purpose of the Position: The Graduate Quantity Surveyor will work as part of the Commercial Team to provide a general Quantity Surveying & Estimation services for projects and tendering support as required.
The position will involve interfacing on a regular basis with others within the Commercial Team, Operations, and Finance and working directly with local project sites and Contracts / Site Managers to ensure optimum delivery of projects.
The successful candidate will contribute to the continuous development of the role to reflect changing business needs through flexibility, adaptability and determination to achieve the demanding performance objectives required to ensure all KPIs are attained.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Including but not limited to the following:
· Assisting in understanding clients' requirements
· Assisting in preparing monthly Applications for Payment
· Maintain accurate Cost Reporting
· Information collation from Management Software
· Assisting with Bid Writing
· Assisting with Estimation and Tendering
· Assisting with pre
· Assisting with review of tender/contract/project risks, management and mitigation
· Procurement of Sub-contractors
· Assisting with Program production and reviews
· Assisting with preparation of initial project budgets
· Assisting with allocation of sub-contractors and issue of their contracts
· Assisting with valuation and payment of sub-contractors
· Assisting with review, preparation and valuation of variations
· Assisting with handover from Commercial to Operations Team
· Assisting with the measurement of completed works
· Monthly cost forecasting and project reviews
Candidate Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate must be a commercially focused, self-motivated, diligent individual with an attention to detail, ability to use their initiative and the enthusiasm to succeed in this role and possess:
· Degree qualified with an RICS accredited degree in a related subject, such as a BSc in Quantity Surveying.
· IT literate
· Advanced MS Excel and MS Project
· Excellent communication combined with the analytical and problem solving skills to reach realistic workable solutions.
· Strong commercial focus with ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
· Ability to use initiative to develop new approaches and improve systems.
· Good decision making and problem-solving skills and the ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
· Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and be able to negotiate and use conflict resolution skills where appropriate.
· A flexible / adaptable approach to job role
· Highly motivated with strong levels of accountability and ownership.
· Access to a form of transport to meet the requirements of the role
· A working knowledge of Standard forms of Contract Desirable
· An understanding or awareness of the Principal Contractor Role/Construction industry would be advantageous
