Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly organised individual to join our Endoscopy Booking Team at Bolton Hospital NHS Trust. You will work alongside the nursing staff, doctors, the public, management and staff from internal and external sources through the provision of clerical duties to co-ordinate the admission of patients to the Endoscopy Unit based at Royal Bolton Hospital. Main duties of the job To schedule procedures ensuring that an efficient, timely and patient focused service is provided, and the clinical needs of patients are met in accordance with Bolton Health Economy Access Policy for Elective Services and NHS National Guidelines. High levels of customer service and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential along with the ability to use your own initiative to solve problems as they arise.. You will have experience in an administrative role preferably within the NHS and be competent in IT within the workplace. Attention to detail and accurate data capture is paramount. It consists of4 endoscopy rooms providing44 sessions over7 days, including3 sessions run by respiratory medicine, 6 bowel screening lists and 2 ERCP lists which are carried out in the radiology department but are staffed by endoscopy. Al endoscopy lists are pooled and patients will not necessarily be scoped by the referring Consultant. There is a separate decontamination unit within HSDU We are the lead hospital for the National Bowel Cancer Screening programme covering Bolton, Salford and Wigan. Ensure that all patients are offered choice of date and time for their admissions with reasonable notice within the relevant NHS maximum waiting times. Provide general advice and guidance to patients and relatives when arranging admissions. Cancel and rearrange admissions as and when needed (via ward, consultants, patients) Liaise with Specialty Co-ordinator and Operational Managers over late cancellations and arrange any back-filling if appropriate. Telephone patients with details of cancellations/admissions when required dealing with resultant patient queries in a polite and courteous manner.
