Work-pack Specialist / Field Supervisor – Instrument/Electrical
BWS is seeking a skilled Instrument Electrical Workpack Specialist to be based in London, UK, for 12 months, followed by 6 months in Germany. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, quality, and delivery of all information required for their allocated work packs within agreed milestones.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work Pack Preparation: Ensure all necessary documentation, information, and materials are compiled accurately and delivered within the agreed timeline.
* Job Sketches & Drawings: Create clear and precise job sketches (or drawings, where possible) that define the scope and required materials.
* Where required these may also incorporate specific field construction instructions, including fabrication, site runs, and supports.
* Inspection & Operations Compliance: Ensure that all inspection and operational requirements, including agreed isolations, are appropriately incorporated.
* SIP (Scaffold, Insulation, Painting) Requests: Prepare detailed and clear SIP requests that outline all necessary work requirements.
* Bill of Materials (BoM) Preparation: Develop accurate BoMs, verifying them against approved pipe and/or valve specifications. Clearly identify direct purchase materials and contractor-supplied items (e.g., consumables).
* Job Breakdown & Resource Allocation: Identify all third-party requirements and calculate resource hours using agreed norms or estimates.
* Long Lead & Special Items Management: Identify long lead or special items and coordinate approval with the appropriate discipline engineer.
* Construction Methodology & Scheduling: Play a key role in developing construction methodologies and schedules, ensuring they align with system windows and consider simultaneous operations, SHE/permit requirements, and other relevant scopes.
* Execution & Supervision: Transition into a supervisory role during the commissioning execution phase, leading field operations by coordinating resources, materials, permits, and execution plans. Ensure work is completed on time, within budget, to design intent, and in compliance with HSE and quality standards.
Requirements:
* Trade qualifications or equivalent in Electrical or Instrument & Control discipline.
* Proven experience in a similar role.
* Strong background in construction supervision.
* Comprehensive knowledge of Instrument and Electrical design principles, including an understanding of petrochemical process hazards and risk assessments related to instrumentation, electrical process equipment, and associated systems.
* Ability to interpret P&IDs and all associated E&I diagrams, including loop, wiring, cable block, terminations, GA’s, routings, and cable schedules.
* Experience working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
